Our Story

Rooted in history.

Living Faith has been a cornerstone of the Omaha community for decades, and we’re excited to continue serving those around us faithfully in our new chapter

1998

The Story Begins

In 1998, approximately 100 families of mixed generations stepped out in faith to embark on a journey and start a new church in West Omaha. Leaving our home church, we knew we were on our own but felt deeply led by the Holy Spirit to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Early 2000s

Laying A Strong Foundation

In a few short years, we built a church building and became well established with ministries that focused on faith development, families and loving our neighbors. The congregation continued to grow and serve our community.

2020

Enduring The Pandemic

Enduring the pandemic, several pastoral changes, and the turmoil within the United Methodist Church, Living Faith struggled but emerged with an even stronger commitment to following our calling and mission.

2023

A Fresh Start

In 2023, Living Faith left the United Methodist Church and joined the Global Methodist Church, which is committed to historic Christianity including the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the authority of the Scriptures, and the work of the Holy Spirit in conveying God’s truth and grace to all people.

A new chapter at  Living Faith

We are again embarking on a new journey led by the Holy Spirit. We are both excited and hopeful. We are even more committed to our core mission:

To make followers of Jesus Christ by building strong individuals and families who model Christian principles in every generation.

We invite you to join us!

Our Beliefs

Heritage of Faith

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in His only Son–Jesus Christ our Lord.

We believe in one living and true God, who has revealed Himself in three ways: as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, born of the virgin Mary, truly God and truly man, who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven.

He atoned for the sins of all believers when He died on the cross. Three days later, God raised Him from the dead. Now He lives and reigns with God the Father and the Holy Spirit.

For moral, social, and theological issues, we refer back to our source, the Holy Scriptures, through the lens of our rich Methodist and Wesleyan heritage.

Salvation

We believe the only sure way of salvation is to confess one’s sin and to trust in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.

We believe one day Jesus will return to earth in triumph. He will receive all believers into His eternal Kingdom and will judge the unrighteous.

Our Wesleyan tradition teaches that the gift of grace is available to all persons. Our Father in Heaven is not willing that any should be lost (Matthew 18:14), but that all may come to “the knowledge of truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). With Saint Paul, we affirm the proclamation found in Romans 10:9, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Scripture

We believe the Bible was inspired by God and contains all things necessary for salvation. When read under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Bible is our true rule and guide for faith and practice.

The canonical books of the Old and New Testament are the primary rule and authority for faith, morals, and service, against which all other authorities must be measured.

Marriage

We affirm the sanctity of the marriage covenant that is expressed in love, mutual support, personal commitment, and shared fidelity between a man and a woman. We believe that God’s blessing rests upon such marriage, whether or not there are children of the union.

We reject social norms that assume different standards for women than for men in marriage. We support laws in civil society that define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
